What’s In A Name?

Filed under: cookbook ideas, keepsake cookbooks — Ashley @ 4:19 pm

When you get a Secret Ingredients Keepsake Cookbook, you have the ability to name your creation what ever you’d like to.  Of course you can always go with classic cookbook names like “Our Family Cookbook” or “Recipes from the Heart”.  But why not step it up a notch and make the name of your cookbook super creative?

You can use the classic titles as a base, and then add your family name to personalize it; “The Davis Family Cookbook” or “Grandma Pat’s Recipes from the Heart” are just a few variations that come to mind.  You can always create cookbook titles based on what the cookbook is being used for such as “Christmas with the Harris Family” or “Who’s In the Kitchen?: Dan and Alice are getting married!”.  Or take a hint from your favorite cooking show and name your cookbook like a star: “Cooking with Lisa Hollenbeck”, “In the Kitchen with Bob Cole”, or “A Taste of Italy: Angela Manzetti’s Culinary Creations”.

The sky’s the limit when it comes to creative cookbook titles.  Pick your brain and see what extra personal touch you can add to your Secret Ingredients Keepsake Cookbook

That’s it for me, until next time…

I’m Engaged!

Filed under: family reunions, keepsake cookbooks, wedding ideas — Ashley @ 1:04 pm

Merry Christmas to me!  My boyfriend proposed to me Christmas night and now I’m engaged!  So despite all of the usual bride-to-be, “I’m planning a wedding” hoopla, something tells me I’ve got some Secret Ingredients Cookbooks coming my way.

My future mother-in-law has already told me that she plans on dubbing me “project manager” to create a Keepsake Cookbook for our upcoming family reunion this summer.  I can only imagine all of the great recipes that will be in that book; from my Sweet Potato Cheesecake that was a hit again this past Christmas, to my mother’s Sweet Potato Pie, my future mother-in-laws recipe for Pound Cake, and my future father-in-law’s awesome Gumbo recipe just to name a few.

It will be a great Keepsake Cookbook for the family reunion, but I’m sure it’ll be an even more impressive Heirloom Cookbook as a wedding gift.  That most incredible recipe collection, paired with photographs of both my fiancé’s and my family will truly be a treasured gift.

In the meantime, I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on my wild ride from fiancé to bride.

That’s it for me, until next time…

Secret Ingredients’ Reminders for October

Filed under: gift ideas, holiday ideas, keepsake cookbooks — Kate @ 1:10 pm

Can you believe next week is Halloween?  It’s almost November!  The Holidays are creeping up on us.  Here are some simple reminders as we approach the holiday festivities:

  • Take plenty of photos of your kids this Halloween!  Halloween photos are SO cute in Secret Ingredients’ cookbooks.  Last year we made an Heirloom cookbook that had ten years of Halloween photos.  It was precious!
  • Keepsake Coupons expire next Wednesday, October 31.  Be sure to checkout in time for these savings!
  • Look through your Thanksgiving and Holiday recipes.  Planning your meals in advance will make your holidays more enjoyable!  Remember that your family’s Holiday recipes are treasures.  Consider including them in your cookbook project.  These recipes are traditions that your children will want to continue.
  • Our Holiday deadline for Keepsake Cookbooks is December 1.  Please keep this in mind if you are ordering Holiday gifts.  Our turnaround time is 2-3 weeks.
  • Gift Certificates and Cookbook Kits may be ordered up until December 17.  These are great gifts for someone who would like to make their own cookbook!
  • Get your kids in the kitchen!  This is the best time of year to get your children in the kitchen with you.  Make pumpkin cupcakes or turkey- shaped cookies.  Baked items are the safest recipes for kids, and there are so many opportunities to bring the festivities into the kitchen during the holidays.

Have a wonderful fall day,
Kate

Pumpkin Celebrations!

Filed under: keepsake cookbooks, recipe inspiration — Kate @ 5:34 pm

Fall has so much to offer- warm colors, shorter days, beautiful weather, and pumpkins!  This weekend my group of friends had a pumpkin- themed potluck.  Last week I was trying to find the perfect recipe.   I was nervous about finding a recipe that would be something new and different…. and good on the first attempt!  Finally, I found it-  Martha’s Pumpkin Ravioli with Sage Brown Butter.  It’s hard to go wrong with Martha!

pumpkin

I highly recommend this recipe though I don’t recommend making ravioli for a crowd on your first try!  The recipe takes several hours due to roasting the pumpkin and freezing the ravioli, but there are definitely ways to cut down on time (like using canned pumpkin).  I had a lot of fun, and the recipe turned out very well overall.  My ravioli were not uniform in shape, but I decided to hush my inner perfectionist and enjoy the wonderful flavor!

The potluck was a huge success.  It was the perfect way to celebrate fall and friendship.  Our friend and host, Mindy, had warm apple cider and a pumpkin spread waiting as we walked in the door.  How perfect!  I was surprised how creative everyone was with their dishes:  Pumpkin Pesto (cilantro based with pumpkin seeds, served over pasta- yum!); Pumpkin Curry Soup; Pumpkin Spinach Salad; Pumpkin- Turkey Chili; Pumpkin, Apple, and Bacon Soup; Pumpkin Muffins; and, of course, Pumpkin Cheesecake!

We have decided to celebrate our heritage at next month’s potluck.  After all, Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

Have a wonderful fall day, and remember only 9 days left before our Keepsake Coupons expire!

Don’t Forget Delivery Time

Filed under: Holiday gifts, keepsake cookbooks — Ashley @ 11:32 am

The great thing about Secret Ingredients Keepsake cookbooks is the convenience.  You still get the benefit of an awesome personalized gift full of delicious recipes, a dedication, and a picture to top it off with all put together in a smaller package.

As you all know, Keepsake Cookbooks are perfect holiday gifts or favors. We’ve even got two Keepsake cover designs especially for the holidays.

For those of you who have started a Keepsake Cookbook holiday project (and even if you haven’t started yet), there’s still time… Don’t forget about delivery time when preparing to finish your book. Production time on Keepsakes is usually about 2-3 weeks.  We offer two delivery options: standard mail usually takes about 3-5 business days, and Express mail is usually 1-2 business days; just a few things for you to remember and keep in mind when completing your project.  The cut-off date for Keepsake Cookbook orders that are to be delivered by the last week of December is December 1st.  Don’t forget this date if you want to make sure you have your Keepsake Cookbooks in time for the holidays.

That’s it for me, until next time…

Same Great Gift, Whole New Look!

Filed under: Holiday gifts, cookbook ideas, keepsake cookbooks — Ashley @ 12:50 pm

Great news for Keepsake Cookbook customers; now you can reorder you Keepsakes, and change the covers too!

As you know, our Keepsake Cookbook covers come in several different designs and colors: Family, Holiday, and Wedding. Just a reminder, the Keepsakes may have designated names but that doesn’t mean they can’t be used and interchanged for whatever occasion works best for you.

So if you made a Wedding Keepsake for your cousin Mary, and her mom (your Aunt Tilly) absolutely loved it, now you can surprise auntie with the same exact Keepsake, but with a Holiday themed cover. Or, if Daddy’s little girl loves the recipes inside the Green Goodness Family Themed Keepsake that Grandma got for her birthday, but isn’t exactly a fan of the old-world figs and is looking for a more contemporary style, she can have her cake and eat it too. Just simply reorder the exact same cookbook with a new cover… let’s say a Wedding Keepsake cover, maybe Sweet Thing in Pink.

Not only do you get the added convenience of versatility, but reorders are easy too. Just send our Customer Service Department an email at info@heirloomcookbook.com, or give us a call at 866-697-3247, and we’ll be more than happy to help!

That’s it for me, until next time…

Keepsake Cookbook Coupons!

Filed under: Holiday gifts, cookbook ideas, holiday ideas, keepsake cookbooks — Kate @ 4:15 pm

The Holidays are right around the corner.  Can you believe it?  I noticed that Macy’s is already displaying their Christmas ornaments.  As you all know, Secret Ingredients’ Keepsake Cookbooks make the perfect holiday gifts for your friends, neighbors, and family members.  Instead of handing out fudge, rum cakes, and candy canes this year, why not give your favorite people something they can use all year… like a cookbook!

My mother goes all out for Christmas.  Each year she makes individual rum cakes, soup mixes, homemade crackers, and fudge.  She packages everything individually in boxes and tins, and then places one of each item in a clear bag tied beautifully with ribbon.  Last year Mom made Holiday Homecoming and Merry Maker cookbooks for all of her friends and included them in her gift bags.  It was the perfect touch!  Click here to flip through a small sample of her book.

All Keepsake orders must be placed by December 3rd this year, and we have some great deals for the early birds!  Remember that these are only for Keepsake Cookbooks.

  •  $5 off your order of 10+ Keepsakes:  Use promo code HighFive.
  • $15 off your order of 15+ Keepsakes: Use promo code Snowflake.
  • $25 off your order of 20+ Keepsakes: Use promo code HolidayCheer.

All of the above coupons expire on October 31, 2007.

To use the code, type it into the Promo Code box when you are Reviewing Your Order.  If you have any problems, please contact us at info@heirloomcookbook.com.

Have a great day,
~Kate
