Today is National Angel Food Cake Day, and since it’s Fall, I managed to find this great clip that’s perfect for the occasion. Here you’ll see how to make Pumpkin Angel Food Cake Muffins. The light and fluffy angel food cake pairs nicely with the fall taste of pumpkin puree. This is definitely a recipe I’ll be trying.
I enjoy learning new stuff everyday and this past weekend I learned that my fiancé likes lemon bars. Who knew? Being a dessert lover in general, I figured why not go a step further and learn how to make these ooey-gooey lemony treats? Check out this clip on how to make lemon bars.
By the way, if you don’t like lemon bars, you should still watch this video. Our Chef du Jour is a little girl named Bailey. She’s 8 years old and loves to cook; I don’t think she could be cuter. I also like how Bailey magically goes into hyper-speed whenever things start to slow down a bit. Isn’t that what all kids do?
I’ve never had Cherries Jubilee before, but today would be the day for it… it’s National Cherries Jubilee Day. Check out this quick and easy recipe here, and remember, don’t set yourself on fire or singe your eyebrows. In fact just to stay on the safe side, leave the flambéing to the professionals, and enjoy the video instead.
(Beware of the misleading start. Trust me, he’s going to make the dessert.)
Today is National Cheese Pizza Day and I think what makes this day even better is the fact that it’s Friday. One of my favorite things about elementary school was that on Fridays, they always served French Bread Pizza. So in honor of National Cheese Pizza Day, I hope all of the little kiddies are enjoying a nice slice of cheesy pizza, and in turn, I hope you enjoy this clip on how to make cheese pizza on the grill.
There’s not much to say about fresh made lemonade other than… aaaahhhh! Please enjoy this quick “How-To” clip, and I’m sure you’ll be heading to the kitchen to make yourself a nice refreshing glass before you know it.
I can’t remember the first time I had Zucchini Bread, but I can tell you I absolutely love it. It’s such a nice surprise to bite into a moist slice of a fresh zucchini loaf, and relish in the delightfully sweet flavor of bread made with a vegetable.
Well today is the day to enjoy a delicious piece of Zucchini Bread. It just happens to be National Zucchini Day.
Check out this great clip of a tasty recipe for Zucchini Bread:
August is National Peach Month. Here’s a great video of a very charming lady and her son, making a Peach Pie. Her Northern accent is to die for, the recipe is quick and easy, and the music isn’t bad either; I just love this video!
Try making your own Peach Pie, and any other peach delicacies you can think of during this lovely National Peach Month!
Summer is officially in full swing, and that means it’s time for Summer Grilling. Everyone knows how to work a grill when it comes to the main course, but what about dessert? Here’s a great video that shows a quick, easy, and delicious preparation of Grilled Peaches topped with a Raspberry Sauce and served with some refreshing ice-cream and nicely warmed Grilled Pound Cake, yum!
Don’t forget, if you don’t have an outdoor grill that’s not a problem. Indoor grills and grill plates work just as well. You can get your grill marks inside, and enjoy your delicious grilled feast outside.
Who says you have to be Irish to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? My philosophy is you never need a reason to eat, drink, and be merry.
Instead of going the cliché route and finding a recipe for green food, below check out a quick clip for a very simple recipe for classic tasty Irish Scones, and enjoy the Irish melody playing in the background. This recipe would be perfect for the Breads or Breakfast Foods section of any Secret Ingredients Cookbook. By the way, “sultanas” would best be known as golden raisins in America.
Looks easy enough to me. Enjoy the Irish scones and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I love baking, but only when it comes to desserts. The concept of baking bread scares me, but in my search for Irish related material for St. Patrick’s Day, I came across this clip for Irish Soda Bread. The host makes the task look so incredibly easy, I might actually try it. I can actually see myself succeeding and having a slice of this bread with some melted butter. And of course, it’d be a perfect versatile addition to the Bread chapter of my Secret Ingredients Cookbook.
